Women in the Church

Removing The Fog of Religion

This is the woman every man needs and what every woman should aspire to --

(Pro 31:10)  An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
(Pro 31:11)  The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.
(Pro 31:12)  She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

(Pro 31:20)  She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the need
(Pro 31:21)  When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
(Pro 31:22)  She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

(Pro 31:24)  She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.
(Pro 31:25)  She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
(Pro 31:26)  She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
(Pro 31:27)  She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
(Pro 31:28)  Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
(Pro 31:29)  Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.
(Pro 31:30)  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

In the Church?

(1Co 14:33-35)  For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.
If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

(1Ti 2:9)  I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

(1Ti 2:11
-12)  A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.  I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

(1Ti 2:13
-14)  For Adam was formed first, then Eve.  And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

Note: Women should not feel bad, as many modern women reading this would be very upset because it sounds like they are to be subservient to men.  But, on the other side, men have restrictions galore, requiring men to love their women as they love themselves -- this, in the lives of men puts the woman first, caring, protecting, sharing everything, and working together as equal partners in (Eph 5:28-29) .  The Bible is filled with far more requirements for a man to do than is given for women.  For one, men are told to Love their wives as themselve and this is a kind of love that is always considerate of the woman and most often puts the woman and women in his life first.  The man cannot be the slave master if he is required to treat the women with this kind of love and respect.
Men are also instructed to lead a quiet life and to mind their own business and to make a living for themselves and their family.

(1Th 4:11)  Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you,

For some reason, when it comes to what women should do it always turns into some kind of accusation of men trying to enslave women.  But this is not the case at all.  These are teachings from the Apostles of the Christ for men, women, young women and young boys as we read in the following instructions --

(Tit 2:1)  You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.

(Tit 2:2)  Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

(Tit 2:3)  Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.

(Tit 2:4)  Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,

(Tit 2:5)  to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

(Tit 2:6)  Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.

(Tit 2:7)  In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness

(Tit 2:8)  and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

(Tit 2:9
-10)  Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,  and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

Note:  Today this would apply to employees.  A person working for another person whether for room and board or for wages or salary are instructed to act with respect and honor.  Slaves and serfs were the equivalent of employees.  I have applied this principle as written in Titus 2:9-10 and it has served me well, I have been promoted and trusted by my employers (Masters) and bosses (Overseers) and it has made my working life so much easier and profitable.  Put this in to practice and you will see the truth of these words.  Putting all of the verses given into practice and reap the benefits.  Men and women alike would be blessed to put the insturctions into practice.

(Tit 2:11)  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.

(Tit 2:12-14)  It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,  while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, YaHshua the Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
