Q: You seem to have an opinion abut everything and I'm not talking about the movie. What do you think about this business with the government trying to shut down TIK TOK ?
A: TikTok? From my limited view, as I do not use or consort with, anything about this medium. Brief encounters, on my part, but enough to see the majority input and output.
Outside of my once logging in and then out and then cancelling this display of childish, foolishness -- the little I do know I have gained from a couple of acquaintances that use it all the time. Perhaps "use" is not the correct term, as it would seem, from some alarming reports, the it us the "user" being used. Hoping not to offend my two acquaintances, both adults by age only. At any rate, my assessment is not based on any scientific research, only on what I have heard, and briefly experienced, to the eye and ear, to be true -- trying to stay out of the realm of "gossip". Still, every time I hear from someone quoting of commenting about something found on TIK TOK, it reminds me that TIME is running out. The term, TIK TOK, in my generation, has always meant a foreboding warning of coming disaster, as in -- TIME IS RUNNING OUT. To me, and perhaps others, it is a sign of the Times, and it is running out. Again, another medium that has mixed insanity with cleaver studies, and wild imaginations. Not quite as sophisticated as some of the other mediums, perhaps appealing to the less intellectual side of things? Tik Tok, tik tok, tik tok, tik tok ...
My brief experience, is that this medium is so infantile as to be ridiculous to the more adult, mature mind. It appears to me that to engage in the TikTok mania, is to commit infanticide -- to murder your inner child -- and this is done by never moving out of your childish mind and never growing up. And, in this present time, this is being born out by the reaction of some ot these children, even into their 50s, squealing and squawking and throwing the proverbial fit of a 2 year old, when it was revealed that some real adults were about to limit the use and ownership of this Chinese method of mind control, on the children (old and new) of the West.
Update August of 2024: It seems that some pretty smart people have begun to use Tik Tok. Where ever the numbers are, there will be found those who are looking for followers. Many, many years ago, there was a TV fantasy production about a society that lived, or died, on Likes and Dislikes. Each transaction, whether it was buy lunch or communication by phone or computer or with coworker, everything was based on your Likes and Dislikes score. There is an old saying, Birds of a Feather, flock together -- and, Pigs wallow together. I know, insulting, but true, just as true as, Sheep will follow just about anyone, even the dog, or the wolf. Anyhow, Tik Tok has graduated into something the Government of the United States has recognized as and enemy of the state, and is attempting to classify it as an foreign agent. Why? For one thing; Tik Tok is a China invention, designed to influence, based on mind control studies. In an attempt to avoid being cancelled by the US Government, it has opened up control centers in Texas, claiming now, to be US based. Some of our political leaders see through this and continue to work toward banning this medium. The problem is, however, that millions of young people love this mindless display of human insanity, and now with many seeing the monitory, plus the fame that can be gained in displaying and promoting various acts of stupidity, alongside beauty, and now gaining traction -- biblical callings of all sorts. This is making it very difficult for sincere watchers of the people, in the government, to protect the weaker minded from such invasions. Tik Tok has so many "LIKES" from so many different views that it has become near impossible to shut it down without some kind of tantrum.
The government is set up to protect its people and especially the innocent, or uninformed. But what do you do when the uninformed believe the problem is their government? Someone is wining in the battle for the minds of the young, and even some older people who should know better. Even when it is proven that an enemy of the country you live in is responsible for a mind controling, thought forming inanity, like Tik Tok, the warning goes unheeded, and its removal is fought against by the very people that need protection -- now, if that is not insanity, then what is?
The purpose of Tik Tok, we are told, is to collect information from our citizens. Hum, I do not see that. It looks more like it is an effort to keep the users of this medium in a forever state of childhood, to never grow up, to never look at the real world, and make real, purposeful, adult decisions about anything. Forever entertaining each other, whether it be body displays, or spewing the most insane of theories, even down to how to bake things. And this is not to mention the insane displays of idiocy on the planet. Yes, I have not seen much, but I have seen enough.
The sad thing is that some in well meaning, but misdirected efforts have looked to Tik Tok to deliver the Gospel message, as they see it. But, mostly it is not the Gospel being taught, it is some fanciful mystery religion they have uncovered. like secrets in the Bible revealing all sorts of thing.
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
2Pe 3:17 You therefore, beloved, seeing you know these things before, beware lest you also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour YaHshua the Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Growing in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord ... Certainly, this suggests that we do not know everything at our calling. This means that as we communicate with other believers there is bound to be differences in our understanding. This should not make for division but opportunities for growth. What is our Unity? What is it that should bind us together, even while we do not see everything equally, what is the one ingredient, that ingredient that none should reject or deny -- His Name. The Name He was given. The Name by which we must all be saved. It is not the Name that saves but the One to whom this Name was given, from among men -- YaHshua, our Savior. The same Name the Apostles spoke, taught, and called on.
