Names do Matter (link for deeper study)

Q: I spent some time on your website and I do understand the points you make...at least I think I do.
However, if the names Jesus and Jahshuah both refer to the same physical being and the events, deeds, miracles, words, etc. that are attributed to him, then it would seem to me that we all (people who call him Jesus and people who call him Jahshuah) are worshipping the same being.....God in the person of Christ...no matter what we actually call him.
Wouldn't it be like a guy named "John" being called "Jack"? Those names seem very different, but both refer to the same person - like President Kennedy, he was called by both names.
Just wanted to put that out there... Lori
A: Great question. I too see your point and it seems reasonable until you read certain Scripture that seem to place a lot of weight on just who our Creator and Savior are, by Name. I see your reasoning clearly and struggled with this myself until I understood the battle between the gods, and to identify one god, false or not, from another you have to use names, just as we mortals use names to identify ourselves one from another. In times past people with the same name were identified by their name with a statement as to which town they were from, or the name of their father, etc. So, we have John of Loxley, or YaHshua of Nazareth, etc..
The world over there is a battle over the various names of gods and this has been going on for thousands of years. Ancient cities would built towers to put their gods on top then proclaim to surrounding cities that they had the “Most High God”, be it Marduk (a Jesus look alike), or Horus. Make no mistake, the end times will be a battle over names and identities about who is or is not the True God. We can see this when we read the connection and importance placed on the Mark of the Beast in Revelation 13.
For example, when the Beast arises it is the receiving of his name or the number of his name that is the Mark against those who refuse to accept it. At a certain time, when our Heavenly Father decides to take vengeance upon this Beast and it followers (most of the world) and is about to pour out the Seven Last Plagues an angel is sent down from Heaven with an ink horn to write the Name of our Heavenly Father upon their forehead of all those having refused the false name of the Beast.
But, still, even more than that -- when the Apostles taught that there was only one name by which we must be saved the names people use today never existed and they never, at any time, gave us a pass to use whatever name we thought up. You are so right about the Character of our Savior being contained and presented in the Scriptures and it is that worship, of the person, names aside, that I believe most Christians see and worship but the day will come when they too will call on Him by His Name and no other. It is my opinion that some are being called to this truth guaranteeing that His Birth Name, a Name given Him by His Heavenly Father, not by men. In fact, Gabriel delivered this Name to Joseph as well as Mary, and that is the name they named Him -- a name found among men, but to be applied to our Savior. I will give you a few verses to consider:
(Act 4:12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
(John 1:12) Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in His name, he gave the right to become children of God--
See how this verse comes alive when His Name is restored:
(Php 2:9-11) Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the Name that is above every name, that at the Name of YaHshua every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that YaHshua the Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Heb 2:12) Saying, I will declare your Name to my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise to you.
A lesson from the past:
(Jer 23:26-27) How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yes, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal (the LORD). (Baal means, Lord and Master and there are many lords and many masters, or Baal -- 1 Cor 8:5)
(Pro 30:4) Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His Name, and the Name of his son? Tell me if you know!
There are so many other verses I could quote. It is understood that this is not for everyone and I do not judge those who hold the truth they have -- it is understood we do not all come to the same truths at the same time. From what I can see the knowledge and restoration of His birth Name is a prophetic happening, as our Savior said that "... many will come in my Name, and deceive many." This could not happen in those last days if everyone was using a different name from which He was Given by His Heavenly Father.
Your reasoning, say with John, and Jack, it reasonable, but if you are called Lori and someone deposits a fortune in and account for you but put Sharon on the account, you would never have access to it. Or if you name were to be misspelled, say, Laurie, on a title or deed wouldn't you seek to correct it? Going from YaHshua (Joshua) to Jesus is not the same as going from Dan to Daniel, not it is more like going from Lori to Sharon, totally different. If we are to inherit the Kingdom we should have the right names on the deed. I do not question the sincerity of those holding to Bible truths but have not yet been opened up to this truth yet, but in the end, every knew will bow to Him by His Name and not other, but that is yet future.
Sorry for the lengthy reply -- I do hope you find something here acceptable and of benefit to your continuing growth in knowledge of Him. Peace I pray for you and those you love, your servant in Him, Dan (link for deeper study)
