Earth Rising
Job 26:7 in the Bible states, "He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing". This verse is considered scientifically accurate and was written at least 3,500 years before Isaac Newton identified and described gravity. However, the earth does not literally have foundations like a building, so God uses figurative language to create a mental picture for Job. The earth is continuously falling towards the sun's gravity, but it never gets closer because it has enough inertia to remain in orbit.
