Holy Glitter?

Holy Glitter? Or Unholy Hoax?
Presented by your servant, Dan Baxley

I watched a video showing a mass of glitter floating down over a large congregation and the speakers on the front stage proclaiming this as "angel dust". Other call it Holy Gold and evidence of the Holy Spirit of God falling on them. This has created some excitement among those professing the God of the Bible and Jesus as the Messiah of the New Covenant.
I was prepared to write a complete article and study on this subject. Of course there is nothing that could be said one way or another without offending someone. But I found a website dealing with this subject in detail and it is pretty much what I would have written. Being lazy by nature I decided to supply you with the LINK to that site. I will make a couple of simple observations but I would encourage you to go to this site -- http://www.gotquestions.org/gold-dust-church.html
Please, let truth prevail and let Spiritual common sense prevail. First we must realize that much of is witnessed among the "charismatic" groups is also observed in "pagan" religions around the world. These "signs" and "wonders" are not exclusive to the charismatic Christian churches. Second, did our Savior have anything to say about this kind of thing? Yes, He did, and it may offend many but He said it and it is true --
(John 4:48) Then said YaHshua unto him, "Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe".
YaHshua makes this statement in an attitude of sarcasim. Real faith, the faith of Abraham is the kind of belief that does not require "signs and wonder" in order to believe. And that is not all He had to say --
(Mat 24:24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
We have received warning after warning. One thing is certain, you will not find one place in Scripture to support this so called "holy glitter". Some claim this is "angel dust", not something from God Himself of the Messiah, but from "angels". No one can support this kind of insanity by the Word and it is by the Word we are to base our judgments --
(1Co 4:6) Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.
This is a clear instruction and a professing believer would be wise to follow it or you might get caught up in the magic and slight of hand by magicians claiming to be working for the God of the Bible.
Are you deceived? That is the theme of what our Savior YaHshua is saying. What is it that is being done in an attempt to deceive "even the elect"? Yep, "signs and wonders", so, is that what excites you? Has your religion become a preformance of "signs" and proclaimed "miracles" and things of "wonder"? Is this why you go to such services, to be amazed and intertained? Then you have better examine why you seek after, chase after, these kinds of thing, for the Pagans religions around the world do the very same thing. Of course, perhaps, you are not one of the "elect", for the "elect", it would seem, will not be decieved. YaHshua says by the context of what He means, that the "signs and wonder" can be so convincing as "if it were possible" to convince the "elect" of God. This would suggest those "called" as the "elect" will not fall for these most convincing and sometimes unexplainable "wonders".
Another Spiritual common sense observation is the Word of the New Covenant. Where do we see mentioned anything like these "holy glitter dustings" in the words of our Savior or His Apostles? No where, not one demonstration, absolutely nothing, only warnings against such things.
What? No signs? No signs given but one, the "sign" of Jonas and what would that be? That our Lord would be in the grave for three days and three nights, just like Jona was in the belly of the great fish had been. Notice, this is not just to that generaation of Jews, our Lord makes a blanket statement that would cover any generation seeking after such things, and He repeats this in Matthew 16:4.(Mat 12:39) But He answered and said unto them, "An evil and adulterous generation seekes after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: ..."
(2Th 2:8-10) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Notice the central theme revealing the "Wicked to be revealed" -- Works of Satan -- "signs and lying wonders". Buy into those things that seem to mimic savage pagan religions and spiritual activities from from our God and Savior at your own risk.
