How the Heathen Rage!
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
(Psa 2:1)
The Heathen? The People?
King David asked this question about rage and vain things -- rage of the heathen, and people that are imagining a vain thing? It was a question for his day, and also proves to be a prophetic question. To see this we need to consider the context of the verse that follow that question. We will also need to ask, and answer if it is possible for Christians to be heathens, or "the people", maybe both? Of course, it is taught that these references are always about people who do not worship "our" god. From another view -- those of Eastern religions look at Christians as heathens -- or infidels, a word reserved, mostly for Christians groups, against others, and in these modern times, those of Islam in reference to anyone not of the Islamic in religion. The funny thing is? Anyone not followers of the Hebrew God, are the true "infidels", or "gentiles", or "heathen". This means, from a Hebrew/Christian Bible view, that all of those other religions are the actual 'infidel", or "heathens".
King David, it seems, is talking about more than just one people, or heathen (all non-Jewish, or non-Hebrew -- gentiles being adopted in are exempt, or should be). Let's have a look, and consider some things, as we seek to understand this in a better light. Peter thought it important enough to quote those words of King David, too, in one of the first sermons delivered right after our lord's return to Heaven. This followed a chastising from the Jewish Priest -- Acts 4:16-28 -- and the Apostles compared this to what is stated in the Psalms -- so, are the heathing that rage, also considered anyone who rages against the called of the God of Israel? At one point the people of Israel/Judah are called gods, as children of the Living God, and yet the Apostles see a shift away from this in following the true born, that First Born Son, called the First Fruit of One we call our Father. At least it seems that way -- Right after being released and commanded not to preach in the Name of YaHshua again, the Apostles call those Priests, Heathens. So it seems.
Act 4:25) "...Who by the mouth of thy servant David has said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
The verses in question:
Psa 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? (Heathen --non-Israeli. People -- people of Israel?)Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against YaHWeH, and against His anointed, saying,Psa 2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.Psa 2:4 He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.Psa 2:5 Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.Psa 2:6 Yet have I set My king upon My holy hill of Zion (Jerusalem).Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the Lord has said unto me, You are My Son; this day have I begotten you.
This is revealing our Savior, YaHshua, to be set as King, the One Begotten, which is only YaHshua --
John 1:18 No man has seen God (the Father) at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Psa 79:6 Pour out Your wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon Your Name.Psa 79:7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.
The Nations that do not call upon His Name? And these nations are identified as those devouring Jacob, which is Israel. And who are those Nations? In our time, the prime example of nations raging against the people of YaHWeH, would be those of Islam. In times past and even a residue of it was the Romans, the Roman Catholic Church, and her daughters, the Protestants, the destroyers of the "people", that is, Israel/Jews.
King David, asking the question, may have wondered why those rejecting YaHWeH as the True Creator God, would rage, or rebel, against Him. What sense would it make? Nations of people who believe the God of Israel is "nothing", why the rage against Israel, then? It is like an atheist raging against a person of religion for believing that theirs is a Higher intelligence, a Creator, a God of all the Universe. If such a person, or body of people, or even a nation, does not believe, then why are they always in such a state of rage, filled with anger and hate and violence toward those that do? Even today, we see people, both male and female, raging in the streets, or online against those who do not believe as they do, be it heathen, or atheist -- why? Are they that insecure? I guess they are.
Strangely, many of those who rage against a Creator God, and anyone who believes in the possibility of a Creator God, much less One that offers forgiveness to the sinners that do rage, either against society, or even against themselves as they live in every depraved manor imaginable -- liars, cheats, sexually immoral, male and female prostitutes of every type, thieves, transgenders, all raging people of violence and rebellion against a God of Judgment -- raging out in the open, in the streets, and within secular institutions, and government -- all plotting behind closed doors. In secret they plot against the righteous way to life, and against their own flesh, and against anyone who does not agree with them in their sickness.
Since the time that King David of Israel, penned those words, asking that question, the nations of people that he referred to as "heathen" (in his time) were, for the most part, very religious, worshipping every thing called imaginable god. -- worshipping stone figures, the sun, the moon, the wind, devils and demons were worshipped, knowingly and unknowingly bowing down to everything imaginable. When King David asked that question, Why, why do they rage? He was asking why they were so angry against YaHWeH, the God of Israel, and rightly so, after all, they had their own gods, so why be so angry against YaHWeH and His people?
I believe that I have the answer for David, the King of Israel. And here it is, an answer that also is the answer fit for today, an answer to that question asked so long ago, Why do the Heathen rage? Because, you, me and every person who claims YaH YaHWeH, as their One and Only God, are telling everyone else, without moving their lips, that they are all wrong, that they are all calling on gods that are dead, or are serving doctrines of devils and demons. The atheist hates everyone, because everyone of any kind of religion or faith, are telling them that they are wrong, without hope, and so they lash back by trying to prove that there is no god.
The communist ideology is in many ways, in this class, as they war against the world. If force and slavery of masses does not work, they weasel their way into the other's house and destroy from within, wrecking the foundations of morality. But, there is a similar personality of people, that are very similar, but do profess a religion, not denying the existence of a Creator God, but also willing to go to war against people, against the world. If we look around, we see how King David's question has expanded and the answer to that question is the same -- by not confessing my God, you are in danger of going to Hell -- and that angers everyone. And who is it with the most anger? Satan and his angels -- Revelation 12:12-13 -- can anyone deny that the Jewish people have been some of, if not the most persecuted people in the history of mankind? The heathen and the people, and the devils rage on.
Is it possible, then, for "religious people", or people of religion to be Heathens? I think we have already answered that but even more, and according to what King David witnessed, we can give and absolute, Yes. But, what about today? What is a Heathen? Maybe that is something worth defining? Can it mean the same today, as then, or does that word have a larger meaning, perhaps an even greater meaning today? Let's take a look at the simple definition and see:
Heathen: Sometimes Disparaging and Offensive.
- a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.
- an irreligious, uncultured, or uncivilized person.
Used as a noun: A person who does not acknowledge your god
The first definition would mean that only non-Christians, or non-Jewish, or non-Muslim people can be tagged as HEATHEN? At least by the #1 definition, but notice the #2 definition -- "...uncultured, or uncivilized ..." Really? I know of a lot of intellectuals, and people with great cultural backgrounds that are not believers, and they are educated people, who actually see the #2 definition as fitting those who believe in any god or gods. In any case that case, who is left? And, who decided that outside of these three groups, everyone else would be the Heathen? Heathens, are non-believers, that is, anyone outside of these one of these major religions? I don't know, it seems to me that a lot of people who have declared themselves to some religion of one sort or another, act and awful lot like Heathens.
What about those of the Hindu religion, a religion that accepts nearly all other gods of all other religions. They preach a religious, of peace, as does the religion of Buddha, and many variations of other religions, all loving believers, teaching many of the same tenets, commandment, and rules of order, even in the belief that there is a god, or many gods. We should not overlook the fact that these same commandments and preaching love among men, are taught by the Big Three. Practicing, and or, preaching similar, or the same doctrines -- doctrines of peace, and love toward all mankind, and the worship of various gods and even goddesses. Some, among the Big Three mentioned in definition #1 would even go so far as to call those outside their own order, pagans, heathens, or anyone outside of their own group -- people without their own particular group, without the god, or gods of creation, worshipping the created as opposed to the creator, worshipping stones and water and fire, as ignorant savages, practicing witchcraft. However, who did David have in mind? Those nations around his nation, comprised of the families (tribes) of the children of Jacob, those called Israelis -- the Heathen? Everyone but those who worship YaHWeH, the God of all Israel. But, what about to day?
Something to note, the Order of Buddha, in many places of the world, is fashioned after the same order as the Roman Catholic Church -- the system of worship and the titles of leadership, all very similar. And, if you question that a major, if not leading Christian organization, like the Roman Church can be, or is currently involved in Pagan worship, then you need to see this -- Pope Francis, participating in Pagan rites and rituals - and, if you think this is a one time deal, think again -- Pope John Paul, during his time in the chair, also entertained pagan/heathen rituals under the guise of -- we are all worshipping the same god, just in different ways -- and this may be true, it just is not the God of the Hebrew Bible, the God of the Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob.
So, here we are, trying to figure out -- who are the real Heathens? Are they really uncultured, uncivilized people? This is to assume that those Big Three, the Christians, the Jewish and the Muslim religions are cultured, civilized, unlike everyone else, but if we pay attention to the history of all people we can see that this is not true at all -- sometimes even the most educated is the most heathen and pagan in demeanor, in life. Some of the most savage, uncivilized and ungodly acts of all time have been committed by all of the Big Three religions, and even, to some extent, they are still practicing Heathens, with murder on their minds, conquest in their souls, dominion their aim, and a steep hatred, even for one another.
According to the Dictionary, used as a noun, a Heathen can only be those outside of Christian, Jew, or Muslim? But wait, it is King David that asked this question in the first place, and while he is a Jew, Mulsims, those of the Islamic religion never existed, at least by that name, not back then, nor did the Christians, as we know them today, and many of the Jewish or Israelis were involved in pagan/heathen worship of gods and goddesses like Chemosh, and Ashroth, Dagon, and Marduk. This simple definition, from Dictionary.com, typical of the definition for this word in other dictionaries of the English language, seems to be heavily biased. This is why I prefer the definition found in the WordWeb Dictionary -- A person who does not acknowledge your god -- simple and to the point. In other words, Your personal point of view. But there is a warning from the One who inspired most, if not all of the Hebrew Book we call, The Old Testament --
Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isa 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
(Isa 1:4) Ah (Woe to a) sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken YaHWeH, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
(Isa 1:5) Why should you be stricken any more? You will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
(Act 4:25) Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? (What is the "vain thing"? To rid the world of all Jewish people and their Savior, their Messiah)
(Act 4:26) The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against His Christ (Anointed).
(Act 4:27) For of a truth against thy holy child YaHshua, whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
(Act 4:28) For to do whatsoever Your hand and Your counsel determined before to be done. (Determined before -- His Prophetic Word)
Awaken to a World in continual Violence -- raging against their Creator and His chosen One and those He has chosen, whom He will deliver when the time (season) is right
Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Suddenly - Rev 6:12-17)Mat 24:38-39 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come. Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares (weeds), and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. (It is not the righteous that are taken first, but the weeds -- this alone disproves the false Rapture Doctrine -- Time of the burning -- Matthew 25:42 & Revelation 20:14-15)
Like the Days of Noah? And what was it that tipped the scale of justice to "cause desolation", bringing about the destruction of nearly half of all mankind? The Heart of Mankind, not the devil or fallen angels, as some teach, but the Heart of mankind the world over filled with evil continually, and as we, in this modern age, witness nearly every day that evil begets violence -- YaHshua emphasized a surprise, but we cannot go around His remark that it would be as, or like the times of Noah, and the times of Noah, while life was going on, it was filled with violence, not unlike today -- Genesis 6:11 -- and more --
Gen 6:5 And GOD (YaHWeH) saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD (YaHWeH) that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His Heart.Gen 6:7 And the LORD (YaHWeH) said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repents Me (makes me sorry) that I have made them. (Call it, The Great Mistake, but one that our Creator plans to correct)
The following link, will give you an eye opening view of the world and the continual rage, some justified some not, but all enjoyed by the angry heathens, celebrating their evil nature, their criminal nature raging, within just and unjust causes -- celebrating, by violence, against God and country -- no matter the country you live in, it is all the same. The faces change, the cause remains the same, to tear down and destroy -- not just a rebellion against mankind, but against our Creator as well, the One who calls all men and women to Peace. Looking at these thousand upon thousands of drawings and photos, demonstrates the violence of men and women, past and present, and should be a reminder for this present generation, that while technology has leaped forward, mankind has not -- the way of peace, they do not know -- Romans 3:17-18 & Isayah 59:7-8
Raging Against the Creator, YaH YaHWeH
It is easy to demonstrate that the world is in a continual state of violence. In this modern age, violence, rebellion in the streets, but not the streets only -- within the political systems. The policy leaders, even in so called free societies, the leaders voted in by the people, seek to change the Laws of order and moral conduct of God, or the Universe, of nature itself. Some of these policy makers, people of power, unashamedly stand before their constituents and pass amendment after amendment, circumventing, or reshaping moral conduct in the Devil's own back yard and he is loving it. Many of these political agents stand and without blushing, claim to be Christian -- passing laws to kill the unborn, even up to 8 months in the womb, and claim to be of the Catholic faith. On and on, goes the RAGE against the God of the Bible. People may not know the god they actually are following, but it is evident, by their actions that it is not the God of the Hebrew Bible. Others may not know the Identity of the god they worship, but at least they use the words of the God of the Hebrew Bible. It is the Hebrew Bible that the Apostles of YaHshua, out one true Savior, taught from, and from this Hebrew, not Jewish, but Hebrew Bible, our Lord YaHshua quoted from. Yes, the Hebrew Bible, composed of the Law and the Writings and the Prophets, is the same one the Jewish people sponsor, and is understood by the Christian communities and orders, to be the Word and words of our Creator. The vast majority may have been led away from calling on the only Person through whose Name we must be saved -- Acts 12:4 -- but they still claim to be followers of those who promote and teach from those writings. Then there are those others who could care less about what the Word and words say, claiming to be something they are not, evident from and by their own words and actions. And yet, it is the majority of the public, who have chosen these agents of evil, these agents of the Devil, to speak for them.
Without shame these people, and many of them have held public office for decades -- in a free society -- voting into office again and again. This proves that it is not only a totalitarian government, ruled by tyrannical, insane men, that work for and rage against the God of Heaven, but those posing as righteous leaders within governments declaring themselves to be free societies. And yet, under the free system, based in part upon the Hebrew writings, called the Judo Christian system, the majority, living under a proven system that has brought more freedom to more people, of an independent nature that any system in history, begin and continue to vote in leaders that are liars and cheats -- leaders claiming to be what they are not, to the approval of their base, approving of things completely opposed to the teachings of the very things they claim -- no, wait, they only claim to be Christians, or the Jewish Faith, but they do lie --
John 8:43 Why do you not understand my speech? even because you cannot hear My word.John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and lived not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (other translations -- "...When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies)John 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, you believe Me not.
The written word, the words He spoke to us, handed down through the centuries, identifies the "father" of these liars, and it is the Devil. Standing up in righteous indignation, against their creator God, our Creator God and Savior, claiming to be Christian when they are not, they are "heathen" in heart and mind, and pagan in belief, the "children of the Devil" -- raging against the God of Heaven and our Savior YaHshua. If they say and do these evil things in public, then, what must they be doing behind closed doors? The Heathen are not only raging in the streets, but in places of high authority and power, as well.
Since the writing of this article/study, October 6, 2023 happened. A display of the Heathen/people raging against the people of David. A continuing theme, until our Lord returns and puts a stop to all of the madness. But, will mankind even recognize it? Many or most will not, because it will not be as so many teach of believe and when what is to come happens in a way they do not recognize, then the true "scoffers" will step forward -- 2 Peter 3:3
